How is it that so many conservatives claim to follow the liberal God Jesus?

If no one had written that Jesus said ';Love your enemies'; and someone were to say it now they would certainly be considered liberal. I see nothing conservative in anything Christ taught.How is it that so many conservatives claim to follow the liberal God Jesus?

It's because they actually follow the teachings of Paul, who was nothing like Jesus. Paul actually didn't care what Jesus said, his main and only concern was the ';fact'; that Jesus died and was resurrected. He never quotes Jesus, probably because he never actually met him, so he didn't know anything about him.
