I know that the gun issue is a wedge issue but does this sound strange?


My friend is a conservative and says that people should not be able to have automatic weapons.


I am a liberal and could care less if you want a automatic gun or a ordinance (things that need two people to fire) as long as it is in an approved area and training. Just don`t hurt anyone. He says I don`t understand because I don`t have kids and does not want to talk about it anymore.Who is the real Liberal and Conservative with my friend and I?

This is what many ppl don't understand. A Republican may just be concerned over the cultural war or they may feel that the economy is what should be chiseled.





The Republicans that were put in during Clinton Administration were just concerned whether or not if ';slick willy'; got some head. They did not run on a conservative economy.





It must be hard because republicans use their voters as tools. They get elected and don't even pay attention to their social or cultural concerns. Gays, fornications, abortions, increased spending and then they use the Democratic Liberals as a scapegoat when they are only called conservatives and they in actuality are ';radicals';.
I am a conservative.... I think you should legally be ably to buy what ever kind of gun you want. If we ban guns only the criminals will have them. Those who break the law will continue to do so and will have whatever kind of weapon they choose. The only difference will be they will now know you do not have on in your home to protest yourself with. That is what he is talking about when he says ';you dont have kids';. However you both sound conservative to me in some ways. I just do not want anyone telling me ( a law abiding citizen) what I can and cant protect my home and my kids with!

But if they became illegal, people would just buy them on the black market and we would have no record of who owns one, or how many they own.
There is more to ';liberal'; and ';conservative'; than one issue but if you are basing it solely on this. You both sound conservative. A liberal typically wants no one with guns.
