Do people use the terms liberal and conservative as an excuse to be retarded?

I've heard both sides rant about each other, saying all liberals are like this and all conservatives are like that, but I've known perfectly normal people from both sides.





Are some people just obnoxious in general or do you think it has something to do with their beliefs?Do people use the terms liberal and conservative as an excuse to be retarded?
i think the obnoxious ones are those who follow partisan lines without thinking. they simply spout out party rhetoric and drown out any attempt at rational thought. these people should be taken to the woodshed and beaten regularly. as for the ';normal'; people on both sides, i wish they'd get together more often and help craft policies that enabled both sides to live harmoniously instead of always having one side need to win at the other's expense.Do people use the terms liberal and conservative as an excuse to be retarded?
The obnoxiousness is not directly connected to their beliefs. They are just bigots: irrational adherents of a dogma. Their connection to their beliefs is mostly emotional and so are their reactions. Their beliefs feel good to them but they have few or no rational arguments favoring those; so they are reduced to just emotional rants about them. That's particularly so if you reproach their beliefs with rational argument. They really go berserk then since they have no well-reasoned response.





Some of the more educated ';liberal'; bigots (actually socialists hiding behind the ';liberal'; label) do have rationalizations; but those would evaporate under scrutiny if such was permitted buy the educated bigots.
I think people who don't understand why other people believe the way they do are the ones who are ';retarded.'; If you're going to call other people something, you better know why you believe your own position.





So, for you to call us informed people retarded, wouldn't that just be an excuse for being too lazy to do the research yourself and find out?

As a liberal, I want equal rights for everyone, and I want those rights [in the bill of rights] protected for everyone.





I have seen conservatives drag their heels all my life and after 50 years it gets frustrating.





First, they want to hold back the blacks.


Then, women.

Your a smart one =D. Yes, when these parties debate with one another the words are often used to attack the opponent at an extreme. Perhaps they were debating, say, the war in Iraq? Get ready for people to just start insulting each-other for irrelevant past actions of their supposedly affiliated group.
You Could use other terms to describe people:





Liberal, could be replaced with: ............Leech.





Conservative, could be replaced with:...Self-Reliant
Because there are still alot of people who dont support the murder of innocent babies....








And alot of people who still believe homosexuals divide culture and cause the collapse of society.
