Why is Connecticut more of a liberal state now, when it used to be conservative?

Connecticut used to vote republican a while back, now it is more of a democratic state, why? Where could I find any information about this? Why is Connecticut more of a liberal state now, when it used to be conservative?
Generally, all of New England is more liberal. I think it has to do somewhat with the influx of people from New York and Massachusetts into other New England states.

Most rural places tend to be conservative, and most urban places tend to be liberal. New England has gone largely from a rural place to a more urban demographic. Why is Connecticut more of a liberal state now, when it used to be conservative?
CT has always been free-thinking. Over its history it has swung more times than most any other state. We had Lowell Weiker (R) leading the charge on the Watergate hearings. Before he was governor, we had a long list of democratic governors and republican senators, with many split party senator combinations.

You can see from the bar graph that Connecticut's voted Democrat for the past 4 elections, and most definitely will continue for now.
we've always been a blue state- it's one reason I'm proud to be a Connecticutan (or whatever you call us) We're a very liberal state, at least in my lifetime
