Is America reaching the stage where it needs to be split into separate liberal and conservative nations?

There are such opposing views with NO common ground on so many fundamental issues, for instance:





-Many liberals believe conservatives are greedy, selfish and stupid.


-Many conservatives believe liberals are MURDERING 1 million children every year.Is America reaching the stage where it needs to be split into separate liberal and conservative nations?

The left gets the left (Obama will be their president), the right gets the right (We'll hold an election for our president), and Independents/others get their own place, too (Ron Paul can lead them, or they can choose someone else)





Oh, and the Republicans will be closing the borders, so when the liberals run out of money, they'll have to enter the Republican side LEGALLY and prove that they can hold a job...There will be no welfare on the Republican side (the elderly and disabled will be cared for by their families, those without families will be provided for through charitable organizations)

The pool of true democrats and true republicans are both dwindling. Unfortunately the ones we see on TV are some of the most extreme and are there simply just to stir the pot and get good ratings. It gives reasonable people from both parties a bad image.





The health care reform has brought the ';blue dogs'; out who are social liberals but fiscal conservatives. I think that many people may find themselves in that same mold.





The point Im trying to make is that there is more of a spectrum than a dichotomy amongst the population. The problem is we elect most of our leaders as either Lib or Conservative and therefore our policy is one or the other --- which doesnt match the societal views.
MarkH I take offense to the notion about the South. I'm from Arkansas and I'm a liberal. Okay, maybe more left-center. But my point is......





No we don't need to be separating because having different opinions sometimes leads to better results. Now unfortunately too many Americans are taking matters too far. I mean come on, not every liberal thinks that conservative are inbreed morons who know nothing about politics except the 2nd amendment. And not every conservative thinks that millions of liberals are lining up in front of an abortion clinic to preform mass genocide against the unborn.





Plus we as individuals all have different ideas and we end up picking the party that is best for us. One example is my mother, she's a die hard conservative with the exception that she's had two abortions in her life time. I myself would be an other example in the fact that I believe that semi-automatic assault should be legal. Or a third would be my buddy in the Navy that is a Republican that believes that America should be much greener. And of course the list goes on and on.
No. We have to learn to be more tolerant which isn't easy when you have people like Rush, Hannity and Beck stirring the pot. Aside from that, what are you going to do, have another Trail of Tears while you move liberals and conservatives to different parts of the country so they aren't living side by side as we do now?
Sure. Sounds great.





Conservatives will take the military, the cops, the prisons, the evil corporations and the responsible people who are willing to do for themselves. Oh, and we will take the religious whack jobs too. And the Churches. Yeah, we can't forget them.





Liberals can take the rest.
If it were to split into separate liberal and conservative nations, it wouldn't last to long, as the liberals would spend their money in no time flat and go broke like California and the conservative country would simply take them over.
But how would the Libs manage without the conservatives to work %26amp; pay taxes and defend the country. Wouldn't the Libs eventually die out due to abortion? Where would the money for the social programs come from??
Would be interesting, separating the blue states from the red. If you notice it's the blues that are in hock up to their *sses. Wonder how long they would go before they accused the reds of all their pitiful problems.
Basing a nation on your own political views is really just a fascist state were political debate is banned. I though that's why many conservatives opposed pcness.
That would be a dream come true. If only there was a way to do it like the way they overlay area codes now, so people don't have to move, they would just pick which system they want to live under.

No. There is a great divide only at the extreme right and left sides. The majority are not representative of them. Few are 100% Liberal or Conservative.

Conservatives are down to a mere 20% of the US Population that says they are conservatives...they can have Alaska, but the 80% of Americans who matter more than conservatives get to keep the rest.
