My Mom is 67 years old - certainly ';grown up'; by most standards. She is currently, and always has been, a liberal democrat.





My Dad is 72 years old. He is and always has been a conservative republican.





They have been happily married for 41 years. Just goes to show you that people are capable of respecting the opinions of those who see things differently, and that there is more to life than politics!
Some never grow up (about 10%). It's not a gag...really..they become conservative republicans.


I was a Vietnam Veteran, I went to visit my older sister at College. She was a hippie, flower child, tree hugger then. Happily she welcomed me with open arms when I got off the bus at her college. I met all her long-haired hippie friends in their flower shirts.


The vast majority grew up. They ended up getting jobs and paid taxes. They raised kids. Age, wisdom, and life's lessons were learned over time. I'm very right wing conservative; my older sister is to the right of me now...as is her ex-hippie husband. Interesting question! All the people they know (many were friends in college) are McCain/Palin backers...signs everywhere!
If they are exposed to real world and business they become conservatives, if they work in say education or for the unions then they stay liberal dems, and continue to live in a dream world where we can legislate happiness and equality.
