How do you define a liberal or a conservative?

What are the negatives and positives of each? What percentage liberal does the country need and conservative? Or would any country be better without either extreme even though it's not possible? How do you define a liberal or a conservative?
A liberal is someone who believes compassion is a virtue and greed a weakness.

A conservative believes the opposite. How do you define a liberal or a conservative?
A Liberal believes in changing for the sake of change and Big government. Government should get involved solving all the problems.

A Conservative believes don't change the principles we were founded on. and in very Limited Government. Government should stay out of the way. Protect against invasion, and punish criminals, the limited role of Government.

For the first 150 years of our country we were controlled by what would be considered today Conservatives. It would be a very small percentage of elected officials, Local State or Federal level who would have been in favor of the Liberal Agenda today. Special rights for Gays, No prayer in schools, remove the 10 Commandments from Public display, Pro Abortion, Higher taxes, Judicial Activism, Pro communist foreign policy, etc. None of these issues were supported by any of our politicians up until the new deal era of FDR.

During that same time in our history, we went from being a struggling 3rd world nation to the worlds super power. Wealth multiplied enormously, and technology leaped light years ahead all because we stood for Freedom, small government, and family values.
If you want to get specific, there are a lot of subsets that you have to include as well.

Not to mention that there is a night and day difference between the ';classical liberal';; which is the modern Libertarian (Lazzez faire in the social realm %26amp; strictly conservative in the fiscal %26amp; power structure realms, see Ron Paul) and the ';Progressive Liberal'; (A deciple of the socialist movement of the early 20th century, also known as dictatorial commie control freaks. See Maxine Waters)

Then you have to make the distinction between the fiscal conservative and the social conservative; which may or may not be mutually exclusive. One might call the judges in the Salem witch trials the ultimate in social conservatism.

The labels get thrown about pretty irresponsibly these days. They serve to do little but divide us... and make us easier to overthrow. It's almost like that's their plan...

Wait... that IS THEIR PLAN!!!

Conservative - 99,94% of people at Q%26amp;A

-limit freedom in the name of the Christian moral standards (even for those who aren't Christian)

-they have their own idea of freedom - the freedom of the powerful to opress the weak

-support war and a totalitarian government

-no welfare

-reject the science and base their beliefs on a 2000 year old book

-believe the Earth was created 6000 years ago

Liberals - 0,06% of people at Q%26amp;A

-idea of freedom - do whatever you want to as long as you don't harm anyone

-welfare- things like healthcare for people who can't afford it

-regulate the industry (so the big capitalists people can't abuse their employees and become too powerful)

-opposed to war and totalitarian governments

-against racism and sexism

-they are enviromentalists

The country needs Americans, not partisans. Plain and simple. The definitions have been blurred, generally smeared, destroyed and left otherwise meaningless by the overuse of the terms to people who do not fit a ';mainstream model'; of either. The point of each is an ideology-but more often than not, just like a snowflake, the next one will ALWAYS differ slightly from the last. So, in direct answer to your question, don't worry about the lines--or blurring them. Worry about the issues that face us all and let's all try to unite on that common ground and save this country.
A liberal is some one who lives and let live, and cares about the plight of others.

A conservative is one that wants to control and define society and everyone in it to fit a certain mold. They don't care about people they care about power and control.
Well liberals are all about what feels right, which is usually bad for the country and rarely benefits what they're trying to help. Conservatives are usually trying to strengthen our country. Conservatives are for military and liberals are for global warming, basic overview.
i don,t define,i ignore, because i firmly believe no one governing body can make the changes required to ';fix'; the problems we all have, however i do admire the ';honest'; one,s for at least trying

Katie P
Conservative - Promote a healthy, thriving America

Liberal - Steal, Steal, Steal, Spend, Spend, Spend
Liberals - people who think with their emotions %26amp; feelings

Conservatives - people who think with their mind %26amp; intellect

It's just that simple!
dems= money grubbing politicians. repubs= money grubbing politicians. both parties should be arrested for treason and sentenced to a public execution.
A liberal is someone who wants everything you have so they can decide how much to give back to you,

ALL HAIL THE MESSIAH!!
Liberal=smart

Con=Brain damaged, window licker

Lib's need 99%

Con's need 1% to remind us why we need 99% liberal
