Carrie Prejean and Sarah Palin come to mind. Both women seem to have worked hard to get where they are and seem very independent. However, both are conservative in thought and against Gay marriage which is the majorities thinking. What is it with feminist groups only backing liberal women, and not women in general?
They are not for women in general they are for Marxist women ONLY Oh and they only support one choice..the choice to kill babies first and foremost as their one true belief. . . it's their religion..KILL BABIES!What is it with feminist groups only backing liberal women, and not women in general?
Feminist groups tend to side with liberals I think because the Dems seem to be more slanted towards giving rights to women such asequal pay for equal work, and the right to choose whether to have an abortion or not. Conservative groups are more tied up with the Christian Right, which places the role of men being a little more equal than their female counterparts, or at the very least is perceived to be so. Feminists also would feel being able to express themselves in a more liberal environment, which Feminism would thrive in. Conservatives tend to want to wind back the clock on many issues, especially socially.
I am not saying that women can't be conservative and get ahead. But feminists aren't trying to get ahead in the manner those two women did. They are going off in another direction entirely.
It's not just about gender, but about policy. Women's groups are, not surprisingly, going to support women who agree with them on issues they consider important. Because these groups tend to be liberal, they would not be likely to support conservative women.
It cuts both ways. You don't see most Christian groups supporting Al Sharpton. Sure, he's a Christian -- an ordained clergyman, in fact -- but that alone doesn't qualify him for their support, since such groups tend to be conservative.
As widespread as identity politics is, it still doesn't trump ideology.
Because the point of feminism isn't to simply support anyone who happens to be a woman. It is to support those who are in favor of improving the lives of women as a whole. If a woman candidate happens to have positions that are not beneficial to women the feminists will, quite properly, not support her. They are not as simplistic as you'd like to have them be.
Because some how in their very twisted thinking they believe that if a woman has those views they have been forced into that thinking by men. They don't think that women who hold true to conservative beliefs can be thinking for themselves.
Very sad indeed, I guess tolerance only works on one side.
i back almost all women. mainly the sincere ones. hey, isn't oprah suppose to be a feminist? she bashed on hilary. and then she said that there was no way sarah was gonna be on her show. but you know she got all wet when the first african american president came on her show. now what do you think that says about oprah?
Women support female candidates that represent their political viewpoints, not just because the candidate is female.
Republicans will continue to do poorly at the polls until they abandon the idea that female and minority candidates are selected primarily for their minority identity.
Which feminist group ?...
Can you give an example ?
I think the feminist people are for womens rights in general... especially issues that affect mainly women, like abortion rights. Palin is on the opposing side of that argument obviously.
the intent of feminist groups is to be disruptive
and any function that is not disruptive
is counter-productive
carrie prejean is a homophobe and palin is anti-choice, so why would a feminist back them?
Feminist groups fight for all women's issues. No women is excluded.....not even the morons. (Palin).
Wait a minute! Do you mean to tell us that the lovely ladies at NAG are biased against conservatives? Please say it isn't so!
I agree with them, as they hold traditional American values. No OPPOSITE marriage!
No point in backing up mindless sheep.
Yet another double-standard
